James Lawrence Crotty age 71, died peacefully on Sunday at his home in Norphlet, AR surrounded by his loving family. Born in El Dorado, Arkansas to Charles Lawrence Crotty and Helen Reba Pippin Crotty. A member of Norphlet First Baptist Church, a lifetime oil man, and most well known as “Jim Crotty Mayor of Norphlet”.
A beloved figure in our community known for his larger-than-life personality, boundless spirit, and a true embodiment of selflessness and generosity.
Jim dedicated his life to uplifting others, always striving to leave the world a better place than he found it. His unwavering commitment to the community and his infectious enthusiasm inspired countless individuals. Whether it was through cooking meals for local youth athletes, teaching Sunday School, or simply lending a helping hand wherever it may be needed, he made a profound impact on everyone he met.
As the biggest cheerleader for those he loved, Jim had an innate ability to see the potential in others, encouraging them to enjoy life, love big, and give back along the way. His support was a steady presence, and he was the person you always wanted in your corner, offering encouragement, love, and laughter in equal measure.
Preceding him in death were his parents, baby brother, Patrick David Crotty, and nephew Colburn Michael Crotty.
Survived by his pride and joy, a daughter Ashley Crotty Hendricks (Brandon) of Smackover, 2 granddaughters Aubrey and Brynlee Hendricks of Smackover, brother Mike (Ginger) Crotty of Hampton, his twin brother John Crotty of Norphlet, a special niece and nephew, Courtney Crotty Kelley (Stephen) of El Dorado, Daniel Crotty of Devalls Bluff, host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family, friends, and a special friend, Cynthia Bolding. His legacy will live on in the lives he changed and the community he cherished.
Visitation will be held at Young’s Funeral Home in El Dorado, AR from 6pm-8pm on Tuesday, October 15.
A celebration of life will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, October 16 at Norphlet First Baptist Church with Sam Higgs, Doug Wills, and Nathan Dupree. Special music by Evan Covas, Norphlet First Baptist and Methodist Church Choirs. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors with Jimmy Lambert presiding. Pallbearers will be Paul Long, David Long, Ronnie Reynolds, Karl Brummett, Jimmie Moore, and Jimmy Watts. Honorary pallbearers Cotton Jones, Charles Bales, and Jerry Smith.
