Johnie Wayne Busby, born in Moss Point, MS October 17,1943 and Jesus called him home on October 15, 2024 in El Dorado, AR.
With profound sadness and hearts full of love, we announce the passing of Johnie Wayne “Papa John” Busby on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 At 80 years young, he left this world peacefully, surrounded by family, and heaven just got a little sweeter with his arrival.
John spent the majority of his career with Gibsons Discount Center/ Worsham Wholesale.
His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and behind the easel painting his memories & imaginations. His legacy is one of unconditional love, laughter, and deep family bonds.
John’s life was marked by his kindness, generosity, and a heart that welcomed everyone. His sense of humor, wisdom, and unwavering faith touched the lives of everyone he met. The lessons he imparted will live on through the generations he leaves behind.
Though his presence will be missed more than words can express, we take comfort in knowing that heaven is now a sweeter place with John in it. His spirit will remain with us, a beacon of love and light.
Preceding him in death was his father Johnie Edward Busby, mother Eula Louise Tillman Busby and two brothers Gary and Paul Busby.
John was the devoted husband of Gloria Jean Bickford for 58 wonderful years, and their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them. Together, they raised two sons, Johnny (Vicki) Busby and Michael (Amy) Busby, and were blessed with five grandchildren, Ryan Busby, Rachel (Logan) Brown, Ashley (Johnny) Snyder, Joshua (Nikki) Prim & Jacob (Anna) Prim and eight great-grandchildren, Joseph, Micheal, Lathan, Bowie, Kynnlee, Jace-Lee, Hunter & Anleigh. He has three surviving brothers, Billie Ray (Cathy) McBryde Jr, Lloyd (Connie) McBryde and Clifton (Pat) Busby. He was a constant source of love, strength, and guidance to them all.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, October 18,2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Young’s Funeral Directors in El Dorado, AR. Interment will be later in Colmesneil, TX.
Heaven has gained an angel, and though he may be gone from our sight, he will never be absent from our hearts.
