Mary Lou Waldo

Mary Lou Waldo was born on March 6, 1930 in El Dorado, Arkansas and died July 17, 2024 in Rockwall, Texas.

Mary was the third-born child of four children to Grace and George Woods. She had fond memories of her childhood with her sisters, Edna and Jean, and her brother Malcolm (aka “Cat”).

After graduating from El Dorado High School, Mary met and married the love of her life, Loyd Waldo on April 11, 1947. Shortly after, they gave birth to their only child Nancy in January 1948. Mary was a stay-at-home mom for most of Nancy’s upbringing, but as Nancy entered upper grades, Mary began working as a customer service representative at Montgomery Wards where she later retired. Mary and Loyd were long-time members of Parkview Baptist Church in El Dorado since 1957. During her 67 years of membership, Mary took great joy in serving her church community on committees and volunteering for various activities such as VBS and other church gatherings. Mary and Loyd loved traveling, fishing and gardening. Mary was also very creative and had a knack for restoring antique trunks as well as sewing and quilting.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Waldo, her daughter Nancy Nance and her son-in-law Randy Nance.

She is survived by her granddaughter and her husband, Courtney and Robb Clearfield of Royse City, Texas, and great-grandchildren, Chloe and Connor Clearfield.
